ORBD.org marks all as spam

Thursday, 27 March 2008 20:05

I got an interesting email from a client today - seems all the email inbound and outbound is spam?

Turns out, we have orbd.org as one of our RBL list providers, and in a quick google, they stopped their service in 2006. Thus, it seems the new owners of the domain is returning codes to block all RBL requests.

I'd suggest everyone check their provider list and make sure orbd isn't one of them.

Cheers.

Bell Canada Hit For Slowing Traffic To Independent ISPs

Thursday, 27 March 2008 09:53

From my good Friend Marcel Gagné:

Yes, it's true. Bell Canada is sticking it to small independent ISPs. Bang! Stab! Twist! From the article:

"Bell Canada faces possible legal action by independent Internet service providers who say the telecommunications company is slowing down peer-to-peer network traffic on bandwidth leased by the Canadian ISPs. Bell Canada's activity came to light last week when ISP TekSavvy Solutions started hearing complaints from customers, who claimed downloads on file-trading P2P networks that use up large amounts of bandwidth had dropped during certain hours of the day to as low as 30 Kbps to 60 Kbps. TekSavvy, a Bell Canada customer, advertises download speeds up to 5 Mbps. "

Tuesday, 25 March 2008 22:48

I used todo a weekly security news thingy for work that had a fairly wide distrobution list. However, this has since seased.

I've been looking to increase my output on the site, so I've desided to combine the two. Keep my security news in a format, and have more content here. So, look for my items shortly.

Regards!

I've gone wireless

Was going though the JED (Joomla! Extensions Directory) and found a neat little plugin/template that lets you access the front page via a wireless device - checked it out on my RIM and it worked nicely. I'll need to see about adding links to other pages, but for now, you can read the blog from anywhere ;)
